我今天当了接生婆。:D
首先，我的Lab partner把母老鼠(mouse)的肚子剖开，拿出一条长长的Uterus。消毒后，我们一人一半，慢慢把Uterus剪开，把小小的，粉红色的小生命，一只一只挤出来，开小心地剪断挤带。
我们的母老鼠一共有十二只小老鼠！而我接生了六只。:D
刚出生的小老鼠一动也不动，眼睛耳朵都紧闭，真的很小很小。
接着我们就把小老鼠放在热毛巾上，一直轻轻按摩它们，直到它们的身体由蓝转红。
为了庆祝它们的诞生，我拍了张照留念。
这是其中五只。看，它们多小。我特地放了个手套在旁边作比较。
上次解剖大白老鼠(Rat)也有拍照，但为了不破坏我部落格的美观，还是不post为妙。

and erm...what happened to that mommy rat?
It is for my Lab Animal Management class. Pretty fun class, get to learn to handle small animals like rats, mice, rabbits and others. But it's also very cruel actually... I didn't want to mention the fate of the mommy mouse (not rat) because we euthanized her with CO2 prior to cutting her open. I was shocked too when I read the protocol. Next week we are doing vasectomy and castration on male mice, and after that we are killing them too. I guess with our skill, even if we try to save them, they will die due to infection. sigh. That's why I feel sad for the animals.

i can't take it, sure end up with a mess. lol , sk , i knew it was rat .... coz m brother kept hamsters last time, similar ......

I know there is a lot of killing in this class, intentional and also accidental killing, that's why I had this huge struggle/conflict when I just started taking this class. Endless animals have been sacrificed for scientific purposes. I feel better when I look at it from an evolutionary point of view. 强者适存，世界本来就不公平。

Vasectomy = 剪断输精管。
Castration = 剪掉睾丸。
男子人家，一定要会这些词，防患未然。:P
Euthanize = 人道毁灭。
一条长长的Uterus并没有夸张，那条Uterus真得很长，不然怎容得下十二只小老鼠。简直就像一条腊肠。
由蓝转红是因为，老鼠刚出生时氧气不足，身体僵硬，需要耐心地慢慢按摩，帮助血液循环和心脏跳动，老鼠就会变成红红的，很健康的样子。
瑾璇，猪肉哪有这么小块！哈哈！
